Why Giants' Eli Manning, Brandon Marshall took off-season workouts to Rutgers

Eli Manning and Brandon Marshall surfaced from the bubble of the NFL offseason ... at the Rutgers indoor practice bubble in Piscataway.

The two Giants stars, both of whom live locally, threw Sunday night at Rutgers and posed for a picture posted to social media by former Scarlet Knights running back Savon Huggins.

Formerly the No. 1 overall recruit in the state out of St. Peter's Prep, Huggins is an assistant football coach at Somerville High School and works in the school district.

Ex-Rutgers RB Savon Huggins earns tryout with the Green Bay Packers

Savon Huggins will get a shot to live up to his potential in the NFL. The former Rutgers running back has earned a tryout at the Green Bay Packers' rookie minicamp next weekend.

The No. 1 prospect in New Jersey's 2011 recruiting class, Huggins chose to stay home and attend Rutgers. The 5-foot-10, 209-pound Jackson native never lived up to his lofty recruiting ranking at Rutgers, totaling 842 yards rushing and nine touchdowns on 261 attempts in three seasons before missing the 2014 campaign due to shoulder and wrist injuries.
